Ozil aside that would probably be the slowest midfield in the BPL.

Isnt he also a DM? If Xhaka sits in front of the back four, would it be better to have a partner who is more of a b2b type?

Xhaka and Cazorla are beyond different in their style. Xhaka needs to be in a 3 man mid or have a Ramsey type (but better) next to him. I believe his previous partner Dahoud was like that.

Cazorla is a dribbler who has great passing ability on top of it. Check his average no. of take-ons throughout his time here, it's nuts.

Krycho doesn't have the quality going forward to be a good partner for Granit, but he's a top player behind the ball.

Maybe it's better to just replace Xhaka than look for the two people on earth that can carry him?

btw I often talk about a 3 man midfield but I think people underestimate how hard it is to play a 2 man mid these days, there are very few teams who can and very few players who have the right combination to make it work on both sides of the ball.

unfortunately for us we are stuck in the old mould of having a CAM as our third mid because we have a world class player there but look at Barca, Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea...none of these guys use a CAM anymore and prefer the inverse with a DM that can start attacks. We need to keep up and just play Ozil out on the right side, at least in bigger games.

He's been put on the market and we could get him for a reasonable sum. We wanted him badly last season. He's a good DM. Fast, strong, throws in a lot of tackles. Could pair him with Xhaka in a 4231 or as backup to Xhaka in a 343. Definitely superior to Coq.
