Arsenal are weighing up a move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, sources in Italy have told ESPN FC.

Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his midfield options at the Emirates after bringing in full-back Sead Kolasinac and the club-record signing of French striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Wenger is a long-term admirer of Brozovic and had scouts watch the Croatian international in action on several occasions last season.

Brozovic has long been linked with a number of top Premier League clubs with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United credited with an interest in the skilled midfielder.

However, Arsenal are now stepping up their interest in the 24-year-old to supplement their squad with an eye to getting Arsenal back in the Premier League's top four next season.

Inter are open to offers for Brozovic, according to the sources, as they are looking to offload some players this summer in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Brozovic joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015, but he has struggled to hold down a regular place or show his true form at the San Siro.

Brozovic, who can play anywhere across midfield, scored seven goals and contributed five assists in 35 appearances for Inter last season and Wenger sees him as someone who can add more creativity to his attacking armoury at the Emirates Stadium.

Any good?

From what I've seen of the guy, and it's been sporadic, he is more of a central midfielder with defensive capabilities, though inter have relied on him as more of DM. He's good at holding on to the ball, and can play a good pass and has assists to his name, though not a goalscorer as such. Would definitely offer competition to what we have at the moment. I'd say his attacking capabilities probably outweigh his defensive. His versatility would be useful as he can play central and right midfield and could prove a useful addition to pick the ball up from the back and connect with Ozil. Overall his balance in attack and defence would prove useful but he's definitely not a DM , so a typical wenger signing, imo!

Thanks for the analysis. So kinda like a Ramsey type of player? Better or worse in your opinion?

imo I would say definitely more useful than Ramsey, given he has greater defensive abilities, and from what I've seen great vision with a good pass.

A couple of opinions about him from Inter fans -

I am so disappointed by this guy. At the beginning of the season he didn't play because De Boer just couldn't bear his behaviour on the pitch and outside. Then came Pioli, Brozo started to play (to play very very well) and finally it seemed that we could count on him for our present and future. After few months of nice football he totally turned off his brain and started to play like a lazy shit. Technically this guy is really intresting, but probably will never be consistent for a whole season.

Arrogant primadonna, we should cash him ASAP.

awful player

Nope.. They introduced a clause because, imho:

1. he's not an essential player for Inter
2. they planned to sell him before 30.06 (end of financial year) because of FFP (they are at -20 mln atm and must reach the break-even before the end of financial year so it seems that Inter want to sell one player among him and Banega).
Then from 1st of July, without FFP, Suning will be free to spend much money..

disgrace... please leave inter on next transfer ..

and those are just the last 5 comments. :hiding:
