Arsenal in transfer chase for Goncalo Guedes of Benfica with Milan and Dortmund

The 17-year-old winger has impressed for the Lisbon side in the UEFA Youth League and could be available for £6m

Arsene Wenger is keeping tabs on Benfica starlet Goncalo Guedes.

The Portuguese media are reporting that the Gunners' scout Gilles Grimandi has watched the 17-year-old winger, who could be available for £6million.

Benfica, fresh off clinching the domestic title at the weekend, are trying to tie Guedes down to a new contract and also set a high buy-out clause to fend off interest from foreign clubs.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund have also watched him impress in the UEFA Youth League.

Benfica have a good reputation @ youth, and I certainly wouldn't mind getting a talent, as long as it doesn't compromise our need for first team additions.

I'd take Benfica's and Porto's scouting team over ours in a heartbeat.

Easily the best in the world in finding hidden gems who turn out to be world class players, even Ajax' scouts are average compared with theirs.

Not taking anything away from their scouting systems, but they have the run of the South-American markets. English clubs can't touch South-America because of the difficulty in getting work permits.

This.

They find so many hidden gems because they take in so many South American talents. For every potentially world class player, they have to go through a hell of a lot of dross that won't make it

no need for name calling...he prob means that the kid could be bought for cheap and then sold for a little profit in the future if he develops as is predicted.

cool, given the injuries and stagnation to miyaichi and gnabry we could do with a good wing talent. Ox still needs to step up as well.
