Virgil van Dijk

Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

Tbh, its not that theyre buying virgil van dijk, its that theyre showing ambition. Its annoying to see as an Arsenal fan because we arent doing that. We havent secured our top targets, while theyve got Keita and virgil now.

its not like hes a world class centre half anyway, good player,
but not the best in the league. theyll still have mignolet in goal at the end of the day

That's the point.

Spending 75m on a defender who isn't even top tier.

R.I.P. football.

we cant afford to just splash out £75m on a player without an exit though. i'll never expect Arsenal to do this kind of business not out of lack of ambition but we don't have the sheer financial power they have (which is probs down for Coutinho going for £160m within the next two windows)

the reason we brought in mislintat was to get ahead of the market and sign these van dijks and keita's before they go for ridiculous prices. im expecting us to sign diallo from mainz in Jan with the possibility of a Lozano/Draxler for around the same price we bought lacazette for

The market is inflated and its only going to get worse.

Teams are especially going to have to overspend on PL purchases on players that are already established here.

Virgil might not be an elite defender but he is still a very good PL experienced defender, and better than anything we have.

I stopped caring about prices as a fan of Arsenal. That pocketed money does not go anywhere near my pocket.

I commend Liverpool for at least showing ambition to address their weakness.

Our defense and their defense have sucked. We have let in the same number of goals this season. One team is willing to address it and thats Liverpool.

Credit to them.

We , OTOH, were trying to get rid of Mustafi as well, and reoly on Per, Holding, and Chambers.

FSG put their own money in as well as their commercial rev (or is already counting the coutinho money), we have an owner who doesnt

im not trying to make us out as peasants, but we absolutely couldnt spend that much on someone unless they're going to be a guaranteed hit, van dijk isnt that

Chambers inclusion in the starting XI tonight is Wenger making a point about VVD imo.

Possible but its more likely down to Monreal being injured. It was either Chambers or Holding tonight.

Yeah unfortunately whilst we do make a shit load of money, it is all legit, we don't have a dodgy sponsorship, we aren't poor and could certainly show a bot more ambition and be far more efficient with our business but 75m on VVD was never going to happen.

Utter spin ... we are way richer than Liverpool (Forbes) ... the problem is we have a piss poor manager ... selling Coutinho for 160m and already spent the money on Keita and VVD .... that's decent business ....

Compare that to us letting 200m possibly walk out the door for nothing, and having a plan to 'nearly' sign a half decent nobody .....

Got nothing to do with money it's all about quality management and ambition .... something we have lacked since 2008 ....

forbes shows the valuation of a football club, not money club owners are willing to put into it

Its not that we can't compete .......... its that AFC no longer wants to which is the saddest part of it all.

FSG have never been shy about spending money.

They sold Suarez for £75m in 2014 and spent £120m buying shit like Balotelli, Lallana, Markovic, Lovren, Sakho and others.

Weeks before sacking Brendan Rodgers, they signed off on Firmino for £30m and £32m on Benteke.
