Virgil van Dijk

Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

Gabriel - Mustafi - Koscielny mayn't be bad as a combo. We would also have Mertesacker and one of Chambers/Holding as a back-up. Holding is showing promise, so I'd like to see him go out on loan where he could play regularly.

I do think Wenger would want to get an eventual Kosc replacement soon.

Chelsea wasnt able to sign Koulibaly regardless of the money they offered.

I'd take Koulibaly at Arsenal all day long, so good for Napoli.

"afccamden: Arsenal are interested in signing Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton. The player isn't a priority at this point, however he is a target with Calum Chambers potentially going the other way.

At the moment, Arsenal have a wealth of Centre-Backs with Koscielny, Mustafi, Mertesacker, Gabriel and the brilliant Rob Holding. However the BFG will be retiring in one year to takeover the academy, Gabriel has been unconvincing and Koscielny has had some problems with his achilles.
As mentioned, I don't think VVD is a priority at this point, and other top clubs are also interested, however he is definitely on Wenger's radar and has been since his Celtic days. #afc #saints"

He'd become our best cb but is he at the level needed to challenge for top honours?

For the price they'd want I say move elsewhere.

Gabriel + 25m = VVD
Gabriel won't make it here, but he's still a good defender, who would be good enough for them. They also can have Chambers on loan. Pretty good deal for both clubs imo.

Koscielny - VVD - Mustafi/Holding

Monreal and BFG as backups. Solid defence imo

If we get him, we're favourites for the league

Imagine that defence

agreed. talented but no way a natural defender.

He is basically David Luiz after losing his virginity.
