We need an agile and mobile unit in the middle of the park and Matic, though a good player in his own right has lost pace and agility in the last couple of years. Not that he was really quick to begin with in the first place. We need a terrier like Kante, an all action midfielder who can run all day without breaking a sweat.

Does not matter if the player is high profile or not we need someone who is able to add some dynamism and energy in the middle of the park. We do not need a player whose job is to play like an additional Centerback only positioned slightly higher up, not saying Matic is a CB type of midfielder just that he starts huffing and puffing a bit too early for my liking.

Ramsey is energetic and puts in a shift but we need someone alongside him who can share the workload. Xhaka will work against teams who do not press hard. We need someone to ruffle the feathers of the opposition yet should possess decent distribution skills and is quick to close down opposition attackers.

Despite all the ridicule he is subjected to unfairly, Coquelin is a good player to have but he is not top tier and will work against certain oppositions. With the number of games we play he is a good option to have.

In short we need someone alongside Ramsey who in my opinion should start every league game when fit. In the 3-4-2-1 setup we employ it is pertinent to have a dynamic midfielder who can manage the situation defensively yet can make a quick decision to pass the ball forward/

The one midfielder we need is a nimble one. Matic wouldn't improve us at all. Stylistically all wrong

I don't see it with Ramsey. We need someone who is energetic but also is technical and has vision.

Matic wouldn't suit us but he's better than all CMs we have. Guy's been a starting CM for the Champions for two out of the last three seasons. He must be doing something right.

Matic > Carrick ..... this transfer improves Utd ....

Matic at 28 has been a key member of two EPL title winning sides, to pretend he's somehow 'past it' and won't improve Utd is way off the mark .... whilst maybe not a 'superstar' signing he will do a good job .... surprised Conte let this happen ....
