A lesson to all owners and managers ....

Player had two years left on his contract, he wanted a move as he felt the club were not ambitious enough, owner and manager refused to make changes and blocked him leaving .... manager said 'his head's been turned, we will sort out a new contract and get him back playing after the window closes' ....

One year later, no new contract, club still going nowhere .... player refuses to leave, refuses to sign, instead runs down his contract, leaves for nothing ....

Not only have WBA lost a 20m asset they've also paid that asset 10m in salaries during which time he's contributed feck all .....

Now we're not WBA but we do have our two prime assets right at the start of the same two year cycle ... what did Arsene say recently? 'I am not discussing new contracts yet, we have more important considerations to deal with, we will negotiate again after the transfer window' ... hmmmmm ....

It's lucky we don't have a history of players running down contracts and leaving on the cheap ... oh wait a minute ....

I'm actually surprised at the lack of teams in for him this summer.

I don't know how much WBA are still demanding but with a year left on his contract they can't be expecting that much?

He's wasting his career at WBA.

This thread has aged well.

He's now playing for a mid-table Pro League team who didn't even want to pay a transfer fee for him.

English clubs have gone mad.

Sterling 22 tops and Berahino 9 tops

If you solely take into account their age and what they have shown that's not too far off. ↑

tbf I was right about Berahino. Sterling however :hiding: although Sterling was educated by Pep, so that may have a lot to do with his massive improvement.

Sterling is only just entering his prime years.

We shouldn't forget he's been playing football at the highest level since he was 17. He's now only 24.
