If he does indeed have a buyout clause and when triggered, Spurs aren't legally able to block the deal from happening.

Would weaken them and strengthen us massively plus it's a kick in the nuts for their fans.

How old is he? If 30 or older forget it imo, we need someone near his level that can improve and grow with the squad

30 is not old for a CB.

The vast majority of world's highest rated centre-backs are just under, or above the age of 30 and that includes Toby who is an excellent reader of the game who does not rely on recovery pace.

Also none of Koscielny, Monreal, Lichsteiner and Cech will still be here in a year's time.

Our current squad age (26.5) is average (9th youngest in the League)

This figure will change drastically after impending departures.

Being the composed ball-playing CB he is, he'd be the yin to Sokratis' yang.

What happens when two clubs match the buyout clause, or some club like ManU came in and offered £30m instead, or higher?

It's down to the player, or can the club ignore one of the offers?

Exactly, clearly if he's got any sense he'll be going anywhere but to us. Poor old Sol got hammered for years and probably still does.....who would want that?

Player can reject either offer and stay at current club and see out contract.

Selling club must accept all offers that match the clause.

Selling club can also accept a reduced offer if they want (ie they want to sell to a non rival). Player still has option to reject lower bidding club and see out contract.

Either buying club can offer larger signing on fee and or wages

There is absolutely no reason to bid higher than the release clause, because the cost to purchase has already been met. Instead a club like man u would buff up their wage offer instead to ensure they out offer a club like arsenal.

Poor old sol got paid more than the rest of the squad and won trophies.

Poor old sol has a trophy cabinet at home.

Every Tottenham player since 1950 odd has bare shelves in their house.
