Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

They are nothing alike. Coquelin is a DM and Khedira is a CM. Totally different roles too.

Khedira is very much a DM.

plays as a DM for Madrid....plays as a DM for Germany.

Well not really. In the last two years, the best he's averaged was 1.3 tackles, .8 interceptions and 1 clearance per game. In his career, he generally averages around 1.7 tackles, 1.8 interception, 1 clearance per game but as I said, not in the last few years.

Compare that to Coquelin, who is a real DM, and averages 2.8 tackles, 3 interceptions and 2.9 clearances per game. Or compare him to Schneiderlin who averages 3.4 tackles, 2.3 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game. Or Matic who averages 3.9 tackles, 2.3 interceptions and 2.7 clearances. Khedira's averages are even worse than Ramsey's who's 2.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 1 clearance...this while exhibiting mediocre form as Ramsey averaged 3.7 tackles and .8 interceptions per game last year.

The point in all this? Khedira does nothing similar to what a DM does and will disappoint massively if we're relying on him to be a DM. He's a B2B central midfielder and a decidedly average one at that.

^^ Interesting figures. Also worth taking into account the fact that Southampton play with 2 DMs in a double pivot, so Schneiderlin and Wanyama share their DM stats.

To be fair, when Ramsey is at his best, he shares the stats too and even when he's not, he's still pretty good. Not really a DM, but an all around CM who helps offensively and defensively.

Madrid don't play with DM's. Kroos & Modric are the undisputed starters, Khedira won't get a look in once both are fully fit. Glad we didn't sign him really, bare injury prone and is a box-to-box midfielder by trade.

No, not before July and that's assuming he won't sign a new contract between now and then.

My Madrid-supporting cousin is spitting fire about Khedira's game today. He blames him (and a couple others) for the 4-0 defeat to Atleti.

With his injuries and form, I think we dodged a bullet here.

The guys a sicknote. Signing him would've been a ridiculous acquisition.

I admit i wanted him but now no chance. He is a ticking time bomb as far his fitness is concerned.

Seeing that we tend to sign players who rarely get injured prior to joining us, perhaps if we sign a player who's always injured he'll never be injured at Arsenal...

Worth a punt at least.
