There have been no offers for Matthias, and to suggest we have agreed a fee, as mentioned, is nonsense,’ said Saier, ‘The fact of the matter is, we have no thoughts about selling him.’

Sounds familiar.

We've sent Coquelin on loan to Freiburg - if we were interested in Ginter, why didn't we use Coquelin as a bargaining chip? :dontknow:

because Ginter is one of Germanys biggest talents and we send Coquelin on loan so he can be sold as he has no future here. Coquelin is a loan worth taking chance on/ Ginter is their star player. I would be very surprised if Coquelin gets many games over there

Yes, but if they were interested in Coquelin then we could still have used him as part of a deal for Ginter. I wasn't saying Coquelin is just as good. Obviously.

They are interested in a loan. You can be interested enough in a player to take a loan but not interested enough to spend some money on. Just as sometimes you take a punt on a free agent. You have nothing to lose

He isn't a free agent though, and they will still be paying a fee that'll probably amount to a few hundred thousand if he's there for a season. I'm not saying we'd have gotten huge amounts of cash knocked off any potential deal but seeing as we want their player, they want ours and they both play in the same position, it would make sense to use Coquelin in a deal.

I dont think we would pay what they would want for the player. this team has no financial problems and he is their star player. Like I said we are talking about 10 million for a 19 year old german starlet. The great news is there are rumors Miquel is going out on loan....so maybe we are after a CB

Wikipedia (yes, i know) says ginter can play in defence and midfield, maybe ginter will rotate with rambo and act as 4th choice CB?

Always look for the cheap option. The problem is you will have Jenkinson to play more games. If anything this is the worst solution for us. But we will go for it because its the cheapest option once again
