Arsenal to Bid for Midfielder Who Snubbed Sir Alex Ferguson - Report

French youngster Paul Pogba left Manchester United to join Juventus under acrimonious circumstances

Arsenal are planning a bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. The Sunday People believes Arsene Wenger is prepared to pay up to £15m for the former Manchester United player.

The 20-year-old French international joined the Serie A champions last summer and despite a good season with Antonio Conte's team - he scored five goals from 18 starts - may leave the club in the coming months. Pogba is believed to be unhappy at the racial abuse he was subjected to in last month's Turin derby.

The Italians have also had to discipline Pogba in the past, with the player sent off in a league game against Palermo for spitting at an opponent.

Wenger has tracked Pogba over the past few years and twice failed to sign him - once with former club Le Havre and then with United. This time around, with a reported £70m war chest, Wenger believes he can land his target. Pogba is contracted to Juventus until the end of the 2015/16 season.

Pogba will be expected, if he comes to north London, to replace Cameroon's Alex Song in a holding midfield role. The Cameroonian signed for Barcelona last summer and has yet to be properly replaced.

Wenger's present options in that field include England international Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey, of whom the former has fitness problems and the latter is inconsistent. Former Everton man Mikel Arteta is an option but at 31 the Spaniard is not a long-term solution.

Stoke City's Steven N'Zonzi is also an option. The Potters' 24-year-old star was tracked by both the Gunners and Chelsea last summer, according to the Mail Online. He has since handed a transfer request at the Britannia. This has been rejected but a £10m+ could be enough to persuade them to sell.

Highly rated but would he really leave Juve because of alleged racial abuse and would he want to come to a club who hasn't won anything in 8 years? Although he looks a bit of a club-hopper - i'd still try to put in a cheeky bid on this talent with an eye on the future, especially with Arteta and Rosicky aging. It's not very likely we stand any chance of signing him but always worth a try i'd say.

Wenger can't handle characters, he'd never sign a player with his reputation!

And get racial abuse on a weekly basis and we both know the Italian government and FA doesn't do shit about it.

No matter how unlikely his signature is our would be, it doesn't hurt to put in a proper bid for him.

Apart from Messi and Ronaldo, we are linked with all the players in the world. Sigh.

For those really yearning for the next 'Vieira'......

Pogba better than I was at that age

This would be a great under-the-radar signing.

i had heard alot about him and i was especially tickled that ol' red nose was lamenting the fact that pogba got away. so earlier this year a juve game came on and i decided to give the lad a close look...he was impressive. that was the game where he scored 2 long distance strikes and was overall very solid. he would be a massive upgrade to ramsey and would also allow arteta to get further forward to provide much needed creativity. just a rumour i know but...
