We should sign him ffs.

At worst, when he is 34-35 he can just turn into regista like Pirlo. He can break Giggs record here.

I don't think he's as legless as people make out. Obviously he's lost a bit of pace but he's never relied on that and he still gets about. His vision and ability on the ball could keep him playing for 3-4 more years in the PL if he decides too.

I can see him playing for PSG or Milan though.

Just checked the all-time stats, Gareth Barry is only 7 appearances behind Giggs.

So he is going to break the record shortly and I doubt anyone will ever match whatever tally he reaches.

There is no way Cesc is breaking Giggs's record. His legs have well and truly gone. He's still quality when he has the ball on his feet. Whilst he never relied on pace he was always mobile enough to get about the pitch. I think moving to a slower league would be best for him.

All time assist
Giggs 131
Rooney 104
Fabregas 104

Milner with 77 is the closest to them two in terms of currently active players.

Rooney if he moves to Everton or some other BPL team to prolong his career can easily beat it and Fabregas could do it within two seasons of regular first team football at any team.

Wtf, I thought we were talking about the appearance record.

That assist record is definitely doable.

Official Assists Top-10 (Prem only):

1. Giggs (162/632)
3.9 games per assist

2. Cesc (103/307)
2.98 games per assist

3. Lampard (102/609)
5.97 games per assist

4. Rooney (101/455)
4.5 games per assist

5. Bergkamp (94/315)
3.35 games per assist

6. Gerrard (92/504)
5.48 games per assist

7. Beckham (80/265)
3.31 games per assist

8. Sheringham (76/418)
5.5 games per assist

9. Milner (75/449)
5.99 games per assist

10. Henry (70/258)
3.68 games per assist.

If we include, today's top 2 CAMs in the Prem--Ozil and Silva:

- Ozil (39/110)
2.82 games per assist.

- Silva (64/216)
3.375 games per assist.

https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top ... o=-1?se=-1

- Ozil has the best assist per game ratio.
- Cesc has the best assist per game ratio out of players in the top-10.
- Apart from the likes of DB10, Beckham, and Henry, most are in the list because they played nearly double--or more than double--the games these players played.
- DB10, Henry, and Sheringham's inclusions are impressive since all three were forward players. Lampard's too--as he was a prolific goalscorer.

Just for fun, if Cesc, DB10, Henry, and Ozil played as many games as Giggs:

Ozil ~ 224
Cesc ~ 212
DB10 ~ 188
Henry ~ 171

:arse flag.gif:

As a customary rule, Ozil's assist-rate is even more impressive as he's the only one who hasn't played with world class strikers (or wingers, save Alexis) during his time at Arsenal. :hail:

If Cesc is to break Giggs' record, at his current rate, he'd have to play 176 more games to break it.

Cesc: 23.620min / 103assists = 229,32min per assist
Podolski: 3.267min / 14assists = 233,35min per assist
Özil: 9372min / 39assists = 240,30min per assist

This is why I talked about the world class forwards Ozil has played alongside: Welbeck, Giroud, Sanogo, Theo, Alexis, Chamberlain. In contrast to the piss poor forwards Cesc has played with: Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, van Persie, Adebayor (prime), Eduardo, Arshavin, Nasri, Hazard, Costa.

;)

Again: Welbeck, Giroud, Sanogo, Theo, Alexis, Chamberlain vs Henry, van Persie, Adebayor (prime), Eduardo, Arshavin, Nasri, Hazard, Costa.

Spot the world class player on the left-hand side. :1970_two_smileys_drinking_beer_together.gif:

Am i wrong though?

As far i know Ozil still didnt sign a new contract yet. When he signs a new contract, stays for three more years or more and perform well, and then we talk. However, as for now, its exactly like what i said.

Cesc started to play at the age of 16 in the PL unlike Prime Özil, he also played alongside Chamakh, Bendtner and Theo IIRC.

Ozil has played alongside: Welbeck, Giroud, Sanogo (how many minutes did he play alongside Özil 300?), Theo, Alexis, Chamberlain

He also had the pleasure to play with Podolski. Podolski also played alongside this dudes (ok, barely with Sanchez so it's even more impressive) plus Bendtner and Gervinho unlike Özil and has still better stats. If you look closer at the details Podolski played with first season Giroud most of the time who was even more shit as today. :sneaky2:
