Luka Modric

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are tracking out-of-favour Real Madrid star Luka Modric, according to the Daily Star.

The Croatian international has suffered a tough start to life at the Bernabeu, and was named ‘worst signing of 2012’ by the Spanish press earlier this season.

And Modric has now been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham among the clubs monitoring the playmaker’s availability.

Modric has made just eight starts since joining the La Liga champions in August 2012, but the 27-year-old claims he wants to stay and fight for a first-team place.

Still, the former-Tottenham midfielder finds himself well down the Real Madrid pecking order, with Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria and even Kaka ahead of him at the moment.

The report claims Tottenham would be happy to have him back at White Hart Lane, while Chelsea and Arsenal would also be interested should he become available.

The Daily Star also suggests that while a loan move back to England would attract plenty of interest, Jose Mourinho’s side would rather sell the player and recoup a significant part of the fee they paid Tottenham for his services last year.

And according to the report, that puts Chelsea in the lead to snap up the Croatian playmaker, even though they have the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata already vying for position in that area of the pitch. The European champions are thought to have greater financial clout, allowing them to move first for Modric should they decide

As if... really can't see him move away from Real Madrid that quickly, despite being down the pecking order.
He's waiting for Mourinho to get sacked and hoping he'll get a new chance with their next manager.

No thanks. He's a good player but would cost a hefty sum and we have another positions that need strengthening.
