Whatever happened to La Masia?
Barca have spent like 300M (exaggeration) in the last 2 seasons... where are the youngsters making it through the ranks?

La Masia ran the show from 2007 - 2013, but since Pep's departure, they're more in the market than ever.

Previously, it wasn't the case and that allowed Madrid to escalate, but now Madrid have equal competition from them on the market.

It's sad these days, but the fact is no team can survive without buying these days.

lol la masia this was always a myth. Typical acadamey every now again they will produced a batch of good players. They were going on like it was forever producing elite players

Like i said in another thread football just dosen't produce those wonderkids anymore. Most la maisa products are bread into squad players.

I heard some bollox that they can register a select few in August, not sure how legit tbh but can't imagine many players happy to just sit there for 6 months unplayable.

I found it odd as well that someone would happily sacrifice months of their career but I guess it's worth it for a club the size of Barcelona and he'll still be earning big wages during that time.

I don't see why they'd loan him to Atletico when they're a direct title rival.

Don't think they can loan him anyway. Pretty sure you need to be able to register a player before you can loan them.

it has to do more with the fact that short term success is the priority, there is no more patience, look at the stick chambers gets around here.
a kid needs time, even messi needed time.

But he could be earning and playing for Atletico whilst set to join Barca in January, so he'd lose nothing. Makes no sense to do it this way esp at the age of 28!
