Dani Alves?

Arsene Wenger is eyeing up a transfer window swoop for Barcelona's out-of-favour right-back Dani Alves.

Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has often favoured either Adriano Correia or Martin Montoya in the role this season, pushing Alves down the pecking order.

With the Catalans nine points clear at the top of La Liga, Vilanova is unlikely to change his winning set-up and the situation has put Wenger on alert, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The experienced 29-year-old Brazilian, who has won three league titles and two European Cups at Barcelona, could replace contract rebel Bacary Sagna, who has been linked with a £10m move to Paris St German.

The French right-back does not want to sign the Gunners' offer of a one-year extension to his contract, which runs out in 2014.

As if we're going to pay his wages - currently he's already on £7m/year.

He would never come here... Besides, we might as well give Sagna those wages and let him stay.

Dani Alves is number one in my all time list of players i detest.

He is ahead of
Ronaldo
van Diver
Shawcross

and that's saying something.

He is a diving, cheating, conniving, cowardly sc**te.

No thanks.

He's not quite that high up on my list of hated players, but he's bloody close.
Do not want, and thankfully won't happen anyway.

I agree that he is despicable with his diving (no worse than Eboue though), but if we denied every diver there would be hardly any players left to choose from.

AS are a Madrid newspaper who not only report on Real Madrid but try and attack/upset Barcelona at any opportunity. Their team isn't doing well, Barcelona are running away with the title, so they've manufactured rumours about Dani Alves and David Villa in a desperate attempt to keep themselves busy. That's what this is and no one should look any further into it.

Right back should be the least on our priorities. We should be looking to keep Sagna and with Jenkinson coming through we have other pressing needs to attend to.

Sagna's replacement. At least it's quality, if he does leave. Well if we get him that is.

RB isn't a priority position, and he's not right for this league imo. He won't add anything defensively.
