Christian Benteke

Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

He played well yesterday considering the support he had, N'zogbia anonymous to his right and Grealish not doing anything for 80 minutes. Sceznezy had to come out for those first few clearances. Kos dealt with him well the rest of the game. Great in the air and can use his strength.

We should still aim higher.

he is a good player that is probably going to end in United, but we already have a good striker that does everything benteke does and better, he is been with us for 3 years so he understands the team. I dont see the necessity in both Benteke and Higuain. If we are going for a striker, its not going to depend on us but on the market, in which elite player moves and where he wants to play, In our current squad we have 4 great and potentially great strikers that can do a job there, So we need Aguero caliber to really have an impact, There are probably 3/4 strikers that i would take without hesitate:

Muller
Aguero
Suarez
Ibra (short term but he always has an impact)
Benzema (big maybe depending on his prize)

Either that or an unknown kid, but it has to offer something different, like pace and working between the lines.

and thats it, i can think on anyone else (bar messi and ronaldo) that can really have an impact in our team to consider pay over the odds for. And with strikers you always overpaid and it is a huge gamble.
I dont know guys, but i feel that we can strengthen the team in midfield, i see that as more of a priority at the moment.

I don't see Giroud beat players for pace

I don't see Giroud dribbling past 2-3 players to stick it into the back of the net

I don't see Giroud score bicycle kicks for Arsenal

I don't see Giroud get close to the 20 league goals per season mark despite enjoying service from heavily superior footballers

I don't see Giroud have score as many goals with his weaker foot from inside the box

I don't see Giroud have score as many goals with his weaker foot from outside the box

Benteke is younger and far more complete than Giroud will ever be and that's not a dig towards Giroud - who I rate - but simply a fact.

Only Aguero, Suarez and Van Persie have scored more goals than him in the last 3 seasons

I don't think people know Benteke as well as they claim; who on earth watches Villa regularly apart from Villa fans and a couple of Belgians who want to keep tracks of Benteke's performances..

Debut season

Second (Injury hampered) season

Last season

If you watch Benteke play regualarly it's impossible to conclude Giroud is superior to Benteke on each side of the game like you claim.

Benteke, Schneiderlin and Cech would be a good window for us.

Would be a great window for us imo.

Cech 10-15m
Schniederlin 25m
Benteke 30m

Sponsorship money 60m

A few sales here and there ie

Pod
Campbell

Etc

Diaby
Flamini
Pod

Off the wage bill

FA cup prize money (4m)

It could happen

By that logic we should just sign any player no matter what the cost because it's not coming out of my pocket personally.

My point is if the guy will improve us then paying a bit over the odds dosent matter. Bale isn't worth what Madrid paid, but he won two trophies for them. I am not saying do a Andy Carroll of course the player has to be able to benefit us.

I'd take Benteke over Higuain and Jackson Martinez. He's proven in the premier league , younger than both and can only excell with the quality players we have around him.
