Antoine Griezmann lets slip about Arsenal transfer arrangement

Arsenal target Antoine Griezmann has seemingly let slip that Carlos Vela will NOT be re-joining the Gunners this summer.

The Mexican forward, who plays alongside Griezmann for Real Sociedad, was reportedly set for a move back to the Emirates after an impressive season in Spain.

Arsenal have a £3.5 million buy-back option on the 25-year-old having sold him to Sociedad at a knockdown price in 2012.

However, Frenchman Griezmann – who is also interesting Arsene Wenger – appeared to indicate that the Gunners have relinquished their right on Vela, reportedly for a fee of around £10m.

Speaking about Vela, Griezmann said: ‘He’s quiet, and signed with Real and he looks comfortable.’

Was just about to post this.

If he doesn't want to be here probably for the best also we'll have a keen Campbell coming who play's in a similar position do no loss really.

‘He’s quiet, and signed with Real and he looks comfortable.’

he means that he's signed to real sociedad, i.e. contracted to them, not that he has 'signed' a transfer to them. journo spin

Making £10-12m off Vela and having Joel Campbell back is a much better situation than selling Campbell for £5-8m and buying Vela for £3.5m.

Arsenal have agreed to sell their half-stake in Carlos Vela to Real Sociedad for £8.8 million, rising by a further £4 million dependent on the number of appearances he makes and the club’s success..

I thought Wenger was destined to sell Campbell until the World Cup. Podolski, Walcott, Ox, (Cazorla,) Campbell, Gnabry, and Miyaichi. Vela is not needed. Might as well make some money off him.

I agree with the sentiment but i think people are massively overating JC at the moment.

I think it's fair to say he's a better alternative to Bendtner and Sanogo so people would be pleased to have him as our third-choice striker.
