Arsenal linked with a move for hard tackling Italian midfielder

Reports in Italy are linking Arsenal with a move for Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio and may make a bid for the Italian international in the summer.

Marchisio has been a slow developer and has played just 135 times in six years at Juventus, a period that saw him loaned out to Empoli in 2007-2008, however since his return to the Turin giants he has improved non stop, in fact His good form during the first half of this season earned him an Oscar del Calcio nomination for the Best Italian Player Award and a place in the Team of the Year.

Marchisio has often been compared to former Juventus and Italy midfielder Marco Tardelli by the Italian press for his tenacious style of play and good reading of the game. hard-tackling, versatile midfielder, he is able to play in defensive midfield or out wide but his preferred and most effective position is in the centre. Though predominantly right-footed, he possesses a powerful shot in both feet, hence his penchant for attempting shots on goal from outside the penalty box if given the chance.

Arsenal have been looking for such a player for some time now and Marchisio does indeed fit the bill.

Italians dont really settle well to the premiership, that is unless you're Zola, Di Matteo, Ravanelli or Vialli but other than those ones they dont do well at all

Then why even post? Your comment-count fools no-one when you've barely managed to string a complete sentence together in your forum posts thus far.

He's now a free agent we need to jump on this fast before anyone snaps him up offer him a two year deal, I'm sure his wage demands wouldn't be that high considering Juventus are usually sensible with player wages and with Lichtsteiner in the team maybe he could convince him to join.

Just imagine Ramsey/Torreria/Marchisio as a midfield trio in the diamond formation Ozil at CAM with Laca and Pea leading the line we'd be lethal and especially on the counter attack.

I think free agents are still allowed to be signed?
Marchisio is quality but he has Wilshere like injury problems the last 2 years, would rather stay away

Premier League teams can no longer sign free agents outside of the transfer window.

Football League teams, however, can still sign free agents or bring in loanees until August 31st.
