Olivier Giroud: I will not settle for limited playing time at Arsenal
OLIVER GIROUD says he will not accept a bit part role at Arsenal this season
Giroud began the 2016/17 season out of the Arsenal squad after returning late from the European Championships.
Alexis Sanchez's impressive form as the lead striker then meant Giroud was forced to settle for a role off the bench and his first league start of the season only came in December 2016.
At the beginning of the year, Giroud made a series of starts as Wenger moved Sanchez back to the left.
By the end of the season Giroud was alternating with Danny Welbeck as Arsenal's main striker.
I will not settle for limited playing time (next season) like I have this season
Giroud ended the season with 19 goals for club and country but Wenger is expected to attempt to sign a top striker in the transfer window.
In January the 30-year-old signed a new two-and-a-half year deal until 2020.
But he has now made it clear he will not be happy at a limited role next season.
He said: "Wenger is counting on me even though he hasn't used me much.
"I will not settle for limited playing time (next season) like I have this season."
He shouldn't be starting. His role for us this season is what we need from him. If he wants more, then all the best at another club
