Giroud dreams of England
French striker would welcome Premier League move in the future

Olivier Giroud has his heart set on making a move to England at some stage, but says he is working towards short-term goals at present.

The Montpellier striker is enjoying another standout season in Ligue 1, with 14 goals to his name already this term.

The 25-year-old has quickly become one of French football's leading lights, with his ongoing development recognised with two senior international caps.

Giroud is hoping to remain a key figure in France's plans during the build-up to Euro 2012 and is also targeting a lofty league placing with Montpellier.

Should he hit those targets, there is every chance he will be on his way to pastures new.

He admits he would relish the opportunity to turn out in the Premier League and, with Newcastle and Arsenal having been linked with moves in the recent past, he could get his wish in the not too distant future.

"I have always stated that it would be a dream to play in England," said Giroud.

"But I am focused on Montpellier for now because I owe them a lot. I don't want to think about too many things at once.

"We are all hoping to play in Europe and the next couple of months will be a turning point in our season.

"My personal objective is to score 20 goals and end the season on top of the scoring charts.

"I also want to go to the Euros with the French team, so it is only right that I aim to finish above the other forwards."

Nothing concrete yet, but I just thought I would start a thread for the guy. I rate him as a striker too

I think wenger is interested. he's interested in every french striker. so that could happen IMO.

he's having a pretty good season but I think he needs to stay 1 more season in monpellier.

I think, he is a very good player who can be the shadow striker and might play as a regular striker. His statistics shows the potential he got. But he definitely not worth 50 millions. And Mr. AW have look for the LB which is very much needed this time.

AStrong rumours we want to sign him. Its clear we need another striker as chamack and park will leave and podolski will play on the left at times. So we need a third striker

Well this one probably will happen then, given where he is from. Only thing is i hope Gooney is talking rubbish and he is not RVPs replacement.
I want Carl Jenkinson back in a Arsenal shirt next season.

According to Goals, Wenger has already asked him for 6M. If that was true then get him. It might be the transfer of the season.

Someone mentioned something in another thread about their still being issues with Park's contract, with that being the reason for his lack of games.

If that's the case then Chamakh's the only striker that's definitely leaving (hopefully!), and only one striker (Podolski) will come in.

I would think of Podolski as a replacement for Arshavin. Chamakh is wanted by Fiorentina, isn't he? But don't forget that we should off load Bendtner and Vela as well. That's why I still want another striker such as Giroud.

he can't possibly be worse than Chamakh, although I don't think he's got the quality to ever be anything more than back up for us

Yes, PSG wants Chamakh for 5M. So only 1M plus Chamakh for Giroud. Not a bad deal. Btw, did anyone watch him play and score against full team Germany last month? He was good.
