Thiago Alcantara

Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

Thiago Alcantara

Postby TRA Dial Square » Sun Sep 11, 2011 6:28 pm

Arsene Wenger will reportedly step up his pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara in the upcoming weeks before trying to sign the 20-year-old Spaniard in January or next summer according to Gunnersphere.com

The Frenchman is a big fan of the youngster, so much so that he even asked for first option to buy the £25 million rated ace as part of the deal that saw former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas depart for the Camp Nou.

Barca were unwilling to listen to any offers for the Spanish starlet this summer, but Arsenal remain confident that they can lure him away from his homeland in the upcoming year.

Thiago, who is capable of playing anywhere in the midfielder, has managed to bag 1 assist and 2 goals in 2 appearances for the reigning La Liga and European champions so far this season.

Good player but it'll be the Cesc saga all over again. Except this time Thiago isn't an unknown name like Cesc was at the time. Not to mention he's alraedy under contract at Barca so I doubt that he'd want to come

Anyway didn't they originally offer us Thiago as part of the Cesc deal?

Wenger would have taken him then if he really wanted him,he's probably as sick of Barcelona as much as we are at this stage

No we tried to get him as part of the deal and Barca refused outright - So we asked whether we could have first buying rights on him instead then.
