Jens Lehmann

Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

I can't believe some people want a 41 year old whos been out of the game for a year to come in as first choice. I can understand back up if you are really desperate but any thing else is pointless.

Yeah, I don't think having him will make much of a difference, unless Al gets injured too.

Arsenal are close to signing 41-year-old Jens Lehmann for the rest of the season, BBC Sport understands.

Injuries to Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone have left Manuel Almunia as the only fit keeper.

The ex-Germany keeper played 199 times for Arsenal between 2003 and 2008 but has been a free agent since retiring in 2010 after two years with Stuttgart.

If the deal is done in time, Lehmann is likely to be included in the squad for Saturday's trip to West Brom.

At least we won't have to buy a proven trophy winner in the summer now. :hiding:

I agree mate.
This is a guy who got so bad that he was dropped in FAVOUR of Almunia.
He's now older and therefore worse and people want him to start ahead of Al?

Got so bad?

He made 2 mistakes Inch, TWO.

Then he was dropped, how many mistakes have our other keepers made?

We have never replaced Lehmann and AW won't, might as well bring him back, because even at 50 he will still be better than all our GK's.

Its only when he went i realised how important he was.

This...

If I was in the mood to do so I'd also point out the only two mistakes he made; but I'm sure GG could anyway.

He will f***ing command respect and command the back line as well, IMO!

The mistake that led him to lose his place was against Blackburn when we drew 1-1.
