This is in the Sun. He's only 19, we need someone older with some PL experience.

Wenger eyes super Mario

ARSENE WENGER is eyeing £20million-rated Inter Milan star Mario Balotelli.
SunSport understands Arsenal scouts watched the Italy hitman in Inter's 5-0 win at Genoa last weekend, while Gunners boss Wenger is also keen on Ajax's Gregory van der Wiel for £8m.

Balotelli, 19, is highly regarded by Inter boss Jose Mourinho but is behind Gabriel Milito, Samuel Eto'o and David Suazo in the San Siro pecking order. But he fits in perfectly with the profile of Wenger's young team - and it is no secret that the Frenchman wants to add another frontman to his squad.

Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh was Wenger's No 1 summer target but the move hit the buffers when the French club blocked his approach. Balotelli, on the other hand, is understood to be willing to consider a move to London to get more regular first-team action.

In addition, Wenger is tracking Dutch right-back Van der Wiel - having already snapped up Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax for £10m in June. Van der Wiel, 21, has been capped five times by his country. He has built a reputation as an exceptionally fast defender and a January move is being looked into.

GunnGunn are you mad this guy is f***ing immense.

£20m is ridiculous he's not worth it YET, and we'd never obviously spend it.

But he's bloody quality, he'll be better than Ade in about two years, and I reckon one day he'll be better than Drogba.

Arsenal was quoted as saying he was a big admirer a while back, they probably used that statement to fabricate a story.

He is an immense player, but not sure if Mourinho would let him go.

TBH I think Wenger has scouts watching most matches in the world, doesnt mean that we are going to buy certain players, I think he likes know about them all tho.....

He will be a big star. But he's moody as feck.
Anyways, you know this story's bull cos it wasn't Bordeaux who blocked the Chamakh move, it was Wenger who phoned Chamakh and told him we don't need him.

i heard a lot of stories about great amazing young strikers, like huntelar, benzema etc but they are just ordinary players, so if you give 20 m for unproved player that's just stupid.

Wenger - I will not make a bid for Balotelli

By Chris Harris

Arsène Wenger will NOT bid for Mario Balotelli.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Inter Milan striker and, according to newspaper reports, are battling with Chelsea for the 19-year-old’s signature.

Wenger told Arsenal.com last week that he would be in the market for a new player in light of Robin Van Persie’s long-term injury and the rumour mill is cranking into gear with the transfer window less than four weeks away.

But on this occasion, the Frenchman insists that the media have got it wrong.

“We are not interested in Mario Balotelli, you can write that,” said Wenger.

“Chelsea can buy him as much as they want, they have no competition on the subject.

“I read today that we are competing with Chelsea for the player, but it’s not true.”

I wish he would give a reason, such as ''We already have lots of good young strikers''...

When he comes out and dismisses something outright its disheartening, makes you think he won't get anyone in Jan.
