I thought he agreed a 5 year deal just yesterday.

If City sign him and Kane has to go crawling back to Spurs, that would be hilarious.

They did but La Liga have imposed financial restrictions and Barcelona probably thought they could ignore them and get away with it like City did with FFP.

............. however it appears they've been told a flat no and so because Messi won't drop his financial demands they have no choice but to part ways.

Hoisted on their own petard. Even with Messi, they had to constantly buy success with crooked deal like Neymar, Fabregas and others. Finally paying the price for financial doping.

I think Messi will take some time off. He can do a pre-contract now and sign for a club in the January window.

Barca would lose face if he joins PSG in the next couple of weeks, would seem out of character for him to do something like that.
