Remind me which high-flying PL team we acquired Ramsdale from?

How can you compare a gk and a defensive midfielder?

Is it any more outlandish than pinning Everton's problems on a 21yo new signing?

Lots of outlets saying Edu is in contact with Onana regularly.

Wouldn't mind him here at all, issue is Everton want £65m apparently.

Prices are going nuts, Onana should be no higher than £45m if that, we got Partey for £45m.

Everton can pump fake on the price, but if they're in the Championship next season and they don't have a relegation clause, Onana and others can submit a transfer request.

It's way too much anyway, this guy should be a backup option if we don't land Caicedo.

The closest replacement for Partey stature wise.

Def wouldn't be against this but.......we need a front man more than anything.

Clubs can see Edu coming a mile away. He's turned our transfer strategy into Man U's "pay them whatever they want".

Whilst Onana has a decent long-range switch and doesn't shy away from attempting a risky pass, he's not a natural ball progressor and can be a bit untidy with his passing. He also needs to become better at knowing when to commit to a challenge and when to jockey in order to slow down the opposition's attack. Although it's something he has improved on—and whilst not untypical for a young player—he tends to overcommit a bit too frequently. He's a passionate player, a competitor, which is what you'd want, but he still needs to learn to channel that fire a bit better and make the right decisions depending on the different gamestates.

Negatives aside, in terms of raw sprinting power, you won't find many CMs who reach higher speeds. When he makes those recovery sprints, or bursting runs forward, he breezes past everyone with those huge strides of his—like a dad playing taking no prisoners playing five-a-side on his kid's birthday party. Per FBref, compared to midfielders, he's in the 95 percentile for aerial duels won per 90 and in the 92 percentile of dribbles tackled per 90. On the ball, he's in the 89 percentile for long passes per 90. Don't take these numbers too literally, after all they are influenced by team/role, but it does give you a general idea of the type of player you are buying.

If the plan is to make us more transition-proof, his physicality and speed would allow us to play an even higher line, meaning we can press more aggressively and effectively as the distances we have to cover would be smaller. We'd have to be less wary of turnovers, allowing us to carry on with an inverting full back and play more vertical passes. He's a more natural deputy to Rice than say a Jorginho or any Elneny. With that being said, he's not the type of midfielder who will regularly make defence-splitting passes against low-block defenses, so in that sense it'd make sense to continue with an effective inverting full back with Onana covering that vacated space.

Onana is a medium to big space player, so using him in the right role is key. As long as we don't try to shoehorn him into a high-touch, high pass volume, Ødegaard type of role, he could be an effective addition.

Remember this run against us? Trademark Onana—shades of Bale vs Bartra, minus the goal. Big space player; both offensively and defensively.

Hes good , but the price is gonna be insane for the quality of the player.Hoping to sign him ,because i believe Rice needs to play forward and we need to forget about Havertz.

Or maybe we sell Nketiah and the backup striker is Havertz.

Another fortune for an unproven kid somebody else scouted and signed for peanuts.

Club is allergic to goalscorers.

He's good - and I actually think he's worth the price - but the timing makes no sense to me. Our attack is what is primarily ailing, not the mid.

Is he supposed to replace Partey? Because I wouldn't say he provides what we're missing when Partey is absent. So, does this mean Arteta is finally binning off the Havertz #8 experiment?

Please don't tell me this is going to be another big brain case of playing someone out of position. We see him line up as a CF and I'll roid the f**k out.

Yes, I want Onana but strange time to be going for a £60m CDM when we simply can't score and need a striker.

He is a good player, technically very good, I think his level would rise playing for Arsenal. Has all the attributes you want from a player that I would expect to replace Partey, very skillful too.

Someone said he is sloppy with his passes, have you not seen Partey play then ?!!!
