Arsenal are interested in a possible swap deal involving Pablo Mari and Udinese star Nahuel Molina - according to Il Messaggero Veneto.

The Italian club are eager to sign Mari outright when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

The Gunners could let the Spaniard move to Udinese permanently if they offer up Molina in return, with the 24-year-old currently valued at around £25 million ($31m).

5'9

The reason Tomiyasu helped is his height and defensive stability. Our back up needs to be in the same mould imo.

Given that Tomiyasu is not yet so familiar with the staff at Bupa as to receive invites to christenings, weddings or birthday parties as Tierney probably does now, I would expect him to retain the first team right back slot bar rotation for league and F.A cup games and hopefully the odd group game in the champions league.

That then being the case, I would have no issue with Soares being retained as backup for a further season if he decides against joining Newcastle but more importantly, it would actively encourage Norton-Cuffy that his progression and development whilst on loan has been noted and recognition exists for him to replace the Portuguese as understudy and remove the need for further external recruitment for that position.

As someone else posted, could also rotate White, Saliba and Tomiyasu (with Saliba coming in to allow White to move to RB if Tomi is not available/rested). Saliba would then be first choice cover for both CB and RB meaning he gets more game time. Then keep Cedric for emergencies or promote Norton-Cuffy for the 'emergency' role.

Would prefer DJed Spence who can play left back or right back and looks a real talent.

We need a more defensive back up RB more similar to Tomiyasu imo

I actually think that given how close they are in age, it makes sense that they both offer something different tactically.
