In that I have zero interest with regards to the club treasurer or accountant(s) and paying over inflated transfer fees beyond the fact of having identified who it is that we want and then having the bloody-mindedness to ensure that we got him, my concern centers on once again being used as a stalking horse in order for the likes of a Juventus to simply step in and reap the rewards of our fruitless pursuit.

As someone who was among my list of strikers (Cabral, Schick, Calvert-Lewin, Jovic, Isaak) I believed fit the profile to spearhead our attack as an alternative to Vlahovic but still in the fashion Arteta had portrayed back in January, my hopes were that in recoiling from that Serbo-Italian bitch slap, we now set about doing the ground works ahead of the successful recruitment of the footballing equivalent of a John Wick, Robert McCall, Jason Bourne, Leon or Agent 47 level assassin in the summer.

Following Cabral having been purchased by Fiorentina to actually replace Vlahovic, along with his age, ability and scope for development being bang in line with those of Odegaard, Smith-Rowe, Magalhaes, Ramsdale, Martinelli, Tomiyasu, Saka and Saliba, the big Uruguayan strikes me as finally being the man we have been looking for to end our quest.

Scored 20 in his 19 starts in the league this season. Also scored 4 in the CL..
He is 187cm so reminds me a bit of Vlahovic but with better dribbling. It's in a weaker league against worse defenders though..

Sounds and looks like a good option potentially.
Apparently works very hard all game and doesn't stop.
Lots of 'Johnny on the spot' goals too.. which is what we need.
Not spectacular, but productive.

I feel like this is the guy we should be after, knock them down closer to 50m and go for it. He's scoring goals in the CL for a small team, suggesting he can make the step up and seems like the more reliable 'next big thing'.

Bit of a feeling rather than much watching him but up for it.

particularly ~145... he holds off a beefy defender with arm jousting to get a quality shot off...

ALOT of interest in this player ...

for me him and DCL are the desired type of quality that, added to what we already have, could really be fun and good.

[Fabrizio Romano via podcastherewego] Arsenal explored the opportunity of Jonathan David and spoke with Darwin Núñez’s agent in January. Haaland is not a realistic option for Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal have opened transfer talks with the agent of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez - according to The Express.

The 22-year-old fits the club's policy of only targeting younger players for Mikel Arteta's project and has been targeted because of his ability to play with back to goal.

Nunez is currently valued at around £67 million ($88m) and has 26 goals to his name from 33 appearances for Benfica so far this season.

Lol so not for his goals but cos he can play with his back to goal. We are targeting goal scoring strikers and attempting to turn them in to this version of laca
