Why not use his EPL stats and see what they say? after all were buying him to play in the EPL (as we're not in the CL)

Look at the numbers - English Premier League Played 159 Started 99 Sub on 60 Sub off 42

Now add some context - Jesus has been taken off in 42 of the games he started, he's also been brought on as a sub 60 times - so in the 159 games he's appeared for Man City he has only managed to complete the full 90 minutes in 57, barely 1 in 3. Now if they were all bit part substitutions coming on that would be understandable, but he's been taken off almost as many times - is that form? fitness? discipline? I've no idea but there was clearly an issue ... why do you think that was?

For a player who has repeatedly failed to manage 90 minutes playing a fairly limited number of games, is it reasonable for us to expect him to play 90 minutes as "the main man" twice a week? Are we possibly buying another weak player? Just why was nobody else that interested? again what do you think?

"Prolific" when playing less than 45 minutes a week - does not necessarily mean "prolific" playing 180 minutes a week - see our injury list for confirmation.

Europa League is just as important as the Prem because winning it is the same as a Top 4 spot.

He started 21/28 games last season, playing to ~90 mins for the majority of them. You can check the numbers on Transfermarket.

Even if you're looking at 10-15 min cameos, its not like City ever takes their foot off the gas. They keep pressing right until the final whistle, and score late goals that way. Somebody is getting on the end of them.

21 games out of a possible 28? pretty sure City played about 50+ games last season.

So you think hes shit then?

That's fair, I didn't include his CL games, where he did pretty well, goals against PSG and Real I think.

He'll be a big upgrade on Nketiah, which is badly needed. But ultimately I don't think he's going to make the kind of difference we need him to make. He doesn't have the profile of the type that could score a lot of goals in an Arteta setup, which is a 6'5 Ibrahimovic style monster in the box. I think all the slicing and dicing of his Man City stats in this thread indicates that people kinda already expect this subconsciously.

We all understand that we need many more goals to compete for Top 4/EL trophy. We need a guaranteed goalscorer and I can't rate him at more than 12-14 league goals. We'll see. If he scores a bunch in EL and helps win the trophy, that would be a pretty good ROI.

If he flops, we'll be stuck with him till he's Laca's age.

Fair enough, well fingers crossed he gives us a new dynamic, hes quick and Tricky so we will have even more class to add to the young lads up top/cam etc

He's never played in the EL - pretty hard to use stats that don't exist - but yes his EL performances when playing twice a week will be crucial.

True but he hasn't just been bought to perform in the Premier League and yes, his EL performances will be crucial. His cup goals shouldn't be discounted and could be just as important especially if we face a tough opponent in the knockout stages of the EL.

Ahh so skewing the numbers to only include PL to suit your argument :dontknow:

We're buying him to play in Arsenal games, not just PL. What a ridiculous argument to make. And just shows the levels some of you go to.

1 in every 2 when he starts. There's your stat.

Because Arsenal's media and marketing team wait the whole season for these moments to prove their worth job wise so they make a circus out of every signing.

.......... remember, we don't give them anything to do in the January window so they treat the summer signings like a biblical event.

That's why we see even youth signings getting the Red Carpet and Rolls Royce treatment.

I feel like we’re getting other targets stolen from under our noses because we’re still too busy getting this one through.

That's just optics.

Jesus is already signed otherwise he wouldn't be walking around the Emirates in an Arsenal no9 kit doing media for the announcement.

Its done.

We're losing out on other signings because we offered £35m for Raphina ........ Chelsea offered £65m, I think that's more what its about?

But you are right the Jesus announcement is needless faffing around, however its not keeping our agents / Edu off the phone.

What the hell is wrong with this club? Always the same with this dragging out signings for no reason other than to milk it like some amateurish outfit who signed a big name

It's not a good trait

Why do they need to announce it? We all know he's signed, there's clips of him in an Arsenal shirt doing photos at the Emirates lol

People stress over nothing in the window.

Yeah people just want to moan about any old thing.

The deal is in place, he's been pictured doing his welcome video, but let's rant because it wasn't announced on Thursday before 3pm :dontknow:

Because it makes the club look cheap and amateurish

I wouldn't expect people who have low enough standards to fawn over a mediocre manager to understand
