We're in for King. £20m. Better than Eddie tbh ...

Arsenal pushing to sign Calvert-Lewin, Isak or Vlahovic before Monday's deadline

....Arsenal have entered the final week of the winter window still hoping to do considerable business. Ideally, they would like to make three additions, with centre-forward, central midfield and goalkeeper the areas earmarked for arrivals.

With their top target Dusan Vlahovic looking likely to join Serie A giants Juventus, Arsenal have turned their attention to deals for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alexander Isak. However doing big deals in January is not easy and neither Everton nor Real Sociedad are expected to be willing to let key players leave before the summer.

With the January transfer deadline fast approaching Arsenal have a lot of work to do and the pressure is mounting the complete deals this week. If deals for Calvert-Lewin and Isak continue to prove difficult, Arsenal are expected to follow up interest in Watford striker Joshua King. The former Manchester United graduate joined from Everton in the summer on a free transfer and has scored 5 goals in 11 league appearances. Whilst a deal is thought to be difficult following Watford's recent managerial change, an offer of £20m may be enough to convince Watford who have Emmanuel Bonaventure and João Pedro as suitable replacements.

As far as Arsenal signing a midfielder before the deadline...

I wouldn't be surprised if Joshua King comes in between now and the end of the window. Certainly from people I've been speaking to that's the closest to any deal that could be potentially happen for Arsenal right now. It's not one that's going to set the fanbase alight in excitement, but I think Arsenal from what I understand are quite hopeful that the deal might be done from now until the end of the window. So that's one certainly to keep an eye on. (Charles Watts)

EXCLUSIVE: Barcelona + Juventus make official approaches to sign Aubameyang on loan until summer. Unclear what Arsenal will do - talks ongoing with both. If #AFC grant exit, destination likely to be influenced by Mortata.

Talks also ongoing with Everton and Watford for Calvert-Lewin and Joshua King respectively. A deal for the latter seems the most likely this window due to the reluctance of Everton to lose a key player mid-season. King recommended by compatriot Martin Odegaard. (The Athletic)

Newcastle are closing in on a double signing before the close of the January transfer window with deals for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Brighton defender Dan Burn likely to bring an end to their recruitment this month ...

Arsenal are thought to have performed a u-turn on Nketiah having initially being unwilling to release him at the start of the window. However with Watford striker Joshua King closing in on a £20m move, the Gunners are hopeful of cashing in on Nketiah before his contract expires in the summer. Arsenal are also set to complete a deal for American goalkeeper Matt Turner with the stopper set to join up with his new teammates in the summer. (Telegraph)

Sounds like media BS - lets wind up Arsenal fans by telling them they are in for a 30yr old Watford striker just after we told them they were in for a bunch of other strikers we made up that they 'missed out' on.
