From Arteta and Edu's perspective, I get how and why they've identified Vlahovic as closest to the perfect striker to spearhead their squad which is now dominated by talented young players, after Erling Braut Haaland and a computer generated player imputed with all the attributes you'd want, of course. However, I'm actually starting to wish we'd just walk away from this one and give the opportunity to a young man with the mental capacity, courage and foresight to recognise the opportunity and possibilities presenting themselves.

Without needing to reference our own changes in fortune, in AC Milan being my favourite Italian team along with what has more recently befallen the likes of Man Utd and Barcelona, I'm all too aware of cycles having a beginning and ending. Standing in the Kop circa May 1990, saying no more titles for the next 30 years would only have drawn looks and comments of sympathy as the St. John's ambulance men gently led you away.

Me, I prefer the players with the mental strength and force of will to relish the challenge of toppling the king and claiming the throne on the back of their own endeavours, as opposed to those who only want to maintain dynasties in the guise of a mercenary.

For all we know there has been very little contact or none with this player or his club.

Well I don't think its BS as far as we are interested and have tabled a proposed offer ..........

But like Locatelli, the player is cold shouldered us.

I really hope Arteta is eyeing up a different striker because I don't want to hear the usual BS of "Well we tried".

There are more strikers out there and we're going to need more than just one new one by summer anyway.
