Jonathan David

Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

Didn't realise we were linked, last I heard Leeds were supposed to be getting him before Lille snapped him up. Sure he'll be moving somewhere for 80m in 2 seasons.

We should sign Lille's recruitment team.

I actually think we should take more of a chance on players like this, players who are performing amazingly in their respective leagues, Celtic seem to do really well out of it and have found some world stars over the years.

Since we can’t really afford top notch, these kind of players make sense, reasonable fees and potentially could be world beaters. It always seem to be other clubs that take a punt.

Yes they might not work out but if they do you’ve got a world talent on your hands and if they don’t you can sell them and minimise losses.

Over the years we’ve signed untested kids or nobodies who haven’t particularly excelled or looked too notch in their respective leagues (or ageing players).

Given that he has been brought in straight after Osimhen, another Pro League player who has hit the ground running after moving to a stronger league, it'll be interesting to see whether or not he's brought in as Osimhen's replacement.

Osimhen is a pure lone striker whereas David has continuously rotated between AM/CF and ST alongside other STs like Yaremchuk and Depoitre. David has close to no experience as lone striker, so it'll be interesting to see whether Lille expect him to adapt or if Galtier will change his system in order to accommodate him.

It's been since Owen and R9 since I've seen a teenager display such composure in front of goal:almost each and every goal of his involves finesse and precision, whether by dribbling around the keeper, heading the ball, or placing his shot, which he does excellently with both feet. David only really smashes the ball when he feels he has to, which isn't very often.

It's also worth mentioning he's more two-footed than Owen and R9 have ever been. Unlike those two, he's not a pure striker and has yet to be defined/moulded into a position. Whether or not he'll fulfill his potential will mostly be down to Lille as his general maturity and composure is incredible. He repeatedly insisted he wasn't interested in moving to Europe's biggest clubs yet, despite having had the chance to do so on several occasions. JD has a reputation of being a level-headed kid—and not just for his age.

JD Phonzie Liam millar the future of canada , I think we have a real shot at making our first world cup and maybe even being the best North american team we have a potential world class front line with those 3

Premier League pair keen on Lille forward

Jonathan David is back on the radar of Manchester United and Arsenal, reports Fichajes.

The Lille forward saw a move to England mooted before he headed to France in 2020 and could end up in the Premier League 12 months after sealing that switch.

Lille's Canada forward Jonathan David, 21, is on Arsenal's radar. The Gunners have been linked with Everton's England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin but David - leading scorer in Ligue 1 - also fits the profile the Gunners are after. (London Evening Standard)

The agent of Lille's Jonathan David has revealed that the striker will leave the club in 2022.

David, who is under contract at Stade Pierre Mauroy until 2025, has been linked with Arsenal and West Ham.

The 21-year-old's agent, Nick Mavromaras, has told Radio Canada: "For us, the goal is to finish the season in Lille, but it will be his last season there for several reasons. I think the Premier League is a good option for him.

"I think that he likes Spain a lot also because he likes the feeling of the ball and the very technical players. These two leagues are a big priority for him, but nothing is excluded."

Mixed record buying from Lille

Gervinho & Pepe = dross
Gabriel = bargain

12 in 19 in Ligue 1 isn't bad, 3 in 6 in a touch CL group also pretty decent.

Let's see what price they want before getting too giddy, not keen on 50m+ for a Lille player again.

Arsenal have earmarked Real Sociedad and Sweden's Alexander Isak, 22, and Lille and Canada's Jonathan David, 21 as possible options to bolster their strike force. (The Athletic - subscription required)

Seems like a decent talent to be fair.

Good player but hes more in the Auba/Martial mold than a Laca replacement who can drop deep
