Parma midfielder Danilo Pereira is attracting interest from Premier League sides including Liverpool and Arsenal, according to reports in Italy.

The talented 19-year-old starred in the recent FIFA Under-20 World Cup, where he was nominated for the Golden Ball award after several outstanding performances for tournament runners-up, Portugal.

Pereira, who has been likened to Patrick Vieira for his strength and technique, joined Parma last year after Portuguese giants Benfica decided against offering him a professional contract.

Although his preferred position is in defensive midfield, he was deployed further upfield as a central attacking midfielder while on loan at Greek side Aris for the second half of last season.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are expected to make enquiries for the 6 ft 1in starlet, with the former reportedly in the market for a defensive midfielder.
