Ha, no it's solidly built it's just in silly colours like bright yellow and blue.

As for the DSLR, I've just bought a Nikon D40 which is supposed to be the best entry level DSLR camera that you can buy.
I've only had it a week or two but I must say it's very easy to use and the pictures are razor sharp.

I'm going to put some up on the forum in the next few days so you'll see.

Is it true that they still cane people there for minor crimes?

I remember an American tourist that got caned there for vandalizing a car. Do they still do that?

Yeap..canes are still there...but not minor crimes...
actually...it depends on the interpretation of the term "minor crime"
but generally the caning sentence is meted out to sex crime offenders(molesters, rapists etc etc)
Vandals-wise...doesn't happen too much...
i remember the case you mentioned, the Michael Fay guy i think...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_P._Fay
It caused a pretty big uproar among the Americans in Singapore when the case was sentenced...

Actually i wouldn't blame him too much...he was young, living in a foreign land, things definitely weren't right for him to grow up...
i guess the parents had to shoulder some parts of the blame... :hiding:

Well it appears he was 19 when it happened, but you would think he should've known better, but what he probably didn't know was that you guys play by a different set of rules over there. He probably would've went to jail for the night and had to pay some court cost and fines, and of course a lawyer to lessen his charge over here. But over there....... he gets caned, I actually think its amusing. :rofll:

Heh...don't worry..you ain't the only one who thinks the caning punishment is funny or barbaric(some countries think its barbaric to cane an offender)

Well it may be a bit old school, e.i. barbaric, but nevertheless, I still find humor in it. Maybe because I'm a sick bastard. And I wonder if the person thats doing the caning gets any satifaction from it. :sneaky:
