He only has 41 senior appearances for Benfica so far. 14 league appearances last season.

What exactly did he do against us in Europa that got us interested? He doesn't really seem like a scout type of pick, and having a reliable backup for Tierney is critical.

That’s not good, why are we signing a guy the fans are happy to see the back of?

This looks like our first signing by all intents and purposes, first signing of the summer a backup……great!

BBC Gossip says 7m. For that price I'm happy taking a chance on a young back up let back.

One day they’re a backup and the next day they’re in your starting eleven for an 2-8 bashing at old trafford.

If we want an understudy to Tierney, the idiot Edu should be using his contacts in Brazil to secure the best young full back in South America. Instead we are getting a guy we all know is going to fail before he signs.

To be honest we should be getting some young talents from South America with Edu’s knowledge/contacts, been disappointed to only have seen Martinelli so far, thought he’d get a few more through the doors.

I thought that was one of the big benefits of having Edu.

If he can't defend well in Portugal he's gonna have loads of fun in the Premier League. Hopefully he's not that bad but this is giving Santos and Kolasinac vibes. Very difficult finding a decent back up player for the squad. Essentially, you're looking for someone that isn't good because you don't want to spend a fortune, but not too shite either. Just a a bit shite so he's not pushing for first team football and knows his place. Lol

Far better than the Willian/Luiz-type signings. We're finally looking at long-term squad building.
We need a cheap back-up for Tierney, we've got one, if it goes wrong Gabriel can play there. Low risk imho.
