Eduardo Da Silva

Postby Trina » Mon Jul 02, 2007 10:39 am

From arsenal.com

Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed with Dinamo Zagreb for the transfer of striker Eduardo Da Silva on a four year contract for an undisclosed fee, subject to a medical.

Da Silva (24), was born in Brazil but moved to Croatia at the age of 15 and took Croatian nationality in 2002. The striker scored the first competitive goal at Emirates Stadium when Arsenal beat Dinamo Zagreb 5-1 on aggregate in last season’s UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round.

Eduardo has made 12 appearances for the Croatian national team scoring seven goals, including one of his country’s goals in their 2-0 Euro 2008 Qualifier victory over England in October 2006.

Further details will follow on Arsenal.com.

And I quoted this from skysports

Last season for his club, da Silva scored a remarkable 34 times in 32 games, netting 71 goals in total in 100 appearances for Dinamo before earning a move to the Premier League.

Hope this isn't what they had in mind for Henry's replacement after all of the speculation. Knowing our history of signing players, it is. :P

Seriously though, I actually think Wenger is a bit worried and I'm sure we will see a world class player by the start of the season.

But, this guy's goal scoring record at Zagreb was great, of course I'm going by wikipedia. :D

34 league goals in 32 games sounds good to me :D

I've had a look on the net and he seems to get a lot of praise. Can't say I know much about him.

The link below is a bit on him

And he scored against England in the 2-0 defeat.

Dont know much about him myself either but his international record sounds good too, 7 goals in 12, not bad.

Wonder how long it will take him to settle? hopefully he can rekindle that form with Arsenal!

I'm glad we've signed him as he is a hidden gem, though he aint really hidden after the England game. But Wenger has done it again and at the end of next season we'll all be like Henry who? Who was he, it don't matter we've got da Silva.
Him and Van Persie upfront this season, oh yes, thats exactly what the doctor ordered.
