Phenomenal but he should have left, it will always go against him staying in his comfort zone

Leave and go where?

In England, only Man City can afford him. Imagine Messi in this Man City side. There's not much to be said.

If he joined Bayern, PSG, or Juve.. Don't need to say anything.

Apart from England and Spain, every other top league is simply a one-man show: whether Italy, Germany, or France.

Just think. Homegrown players wouldn't ever leave their clubs if they're at top clubs already. Scholes didn't. Giggs. Neville. Above all, Messi plays for Barca, not Arsenal. :(

Bergkamp didn't leave Arsenal. He retired here.

Not everyone is Cesc Fabregas.

Could have run his contract down tbf, don't think anyone at Barca would have hold it against him, would have just been interesting to see him in another league

Sure - from a neutral's POV.

But you also have to understand that PSG, Bayern, City, and Juve are the only options. And dem folks are treating the league like candy with their unlimited spending (save for Juve) and monopoly.

Need I say more?

Disagree here would be interesting to see how he's doing in another league or carrying a at best average team like Maradona did with SSC but in a time of football mercenaries it's quiet refreshing to have loyal guys like Messi. Maldini never left Milan but is the best defender until today in my opinion.

Some fans are never happy. Players leave they get mad, players stay they get mad. Make up your mind kids.

I admire his loyalty to one club, something rarely seen in all sports these days.

Yup. Don't like the guy. Scum of football but he's quality and him not leaving his comfort zone to challenge himself elsewhere goes against him.

I know it seems weird to some, but some players actually care more about winning trophies and being loyal than moving to different leagues so they can be considered one of the best individually, and try to achieve as many individual accolades for themselves. When they talk about the greats, Messi will still be in the discussion without all that selfishness and arrogance.

But he is selfish and arrogant and basically runs Barcelona from the inside. Gets managers and players forced out from both Barca and Argentina.

He's near enough the same as Ronaldo in every way just better at hiding it, if you were that good you'd be egotistical and arrogant as well...it's quite normal.

Can both appreciate his loyalty to Barca and point it out as a flaw that he hasn't proven himself elsewhere without it being a big deal imo.
