This was the one year they had a realistic chance of winning the League and they’ve bottled it before the end of september

Severe lack of money compared to the PL. No longer viewed on Sky. Ronaldo leaving was massive.

Didn't La Liga just sign a new record TV contract?
Of course PL still has no competition in that regard

Real 1-0 Espanyol

Asensio after VAR took an age.

TV viewers saw he was onside within seconds. Took VAR 2 minutes

Messi is different level this season

Personally believe this is arguably the best he’s ever been

Easy to say things like this and not remember things from 7 years ago, at the highest level (CL) he was better back then, he scored nearly 100 goals in a calender year was scoring 4 goals against us, Incredible solo goals like the one at Madrid.

Compared to then his agility and speed is significantly less, sure aspects of his game is better like free kicks, through balls and he is more intelligent but at the highest level against strong well organised teams have dealt with him over the last 3 years because he doesn't have the same short burst acceleration to leave people for dead.

Back in the day even though he was playing with better players he could do it all on his own, don't think that's the case now.
