There's an order of magnitude difference between his failure and what we are facing now with Artetas failure.

We had already qualified for Europe at the end of 18/19, the problem was that Emery bottled Top 4 by a couple of points and lost the EL final. He was sacked early last season because we wanted Top 4, and could not risk a bad start.

A year and a half later Top 6 is long gone, let alone Top4. We have no Europe for the first time in a quarter century and will have our lowest league fininish since 1960.

The lowest we can finish is 12th
We finished 12th in 94/95
We have a point more than then
And it was a 42 game season

All the stats in the world doesn't take away the fact that given the opportunity Emri could have done a better job than the clown we have now.

It ain’t a stat it’s a fact
If you are publishing something that damns the team you support it should come with a heavy heart and be correct

We had the right idea to hire him. We weren't going to make Top 4 for the foreseeable future, and have completely stagnated now.

I really wish we didn't sack him until AFTER the EL campaign of 19/20. He's the closest thing to a guarantee there is, and PEA was still in top form last season. Plus he would actually have used players we had like Saliba, Willock and Martinelli instead of conning the club into buying Willian and renewing Ceballos.

Invincible.

Gotta say he made fools out of the people that thought his career was over after Arsenal.

Makes it even worse missing out on Conference League. We might have had a shot.

Well done, Unai. Happy for him.

We did the right thing sacking him. The wheels came off and he lost the team. We just failed to find the right replacement.

But I don’t hold any grudge with him. Glad he found success again. Shame couldn’t do it with us.

If this doesn't confirm what we all know - it's not the manager it's the shit players - nothing will ....

Emery gets the job done with a decent (not even world beating) squad ... but even he couldn't do feck all with our overpaid prima donnas ... Arteta is nowhere near Emery quality so he's got no chance.

Until someone admits that buying old rejects on huge salaries, giving 30 year old players retirement contracts, and expecting bang average players to suddenly become world class ... then whoever is the manager mid-table will be the result.

Well played Unai you proved that it was Arsenal not you who failed .........

Unai succeeding at Villarreal and beating us to do it.

How many hits can AFC take?

I mean we can't go much lower surely? we should start getting ruthless like Chelsea until we find a manager we know is right for us.

Emery 1st season Europa League winner, Tuchel 1st season, top 4 and CL final.

What do we get? ........... we got what we deserved for hiring a non-manager.

I don't think a former manager has ever humiliated our club so comprehensively, so shortly after leaving.

respect Unai, well done. It didn't work for him here and he made crucial mistakes when under pressure here.

and because we are run by idiots!
