Arteta and Emery's records are closer if compared across all competitions. GD especially illustrates the difference in their styles. Emery's team scored 25 more, but Arteta's team conceded 20 less. Overall though, Emery won 3 games more than Arteta, and lost 3 fewer.

With PL games only (51 each), Emery had 88 points (same as Wenger) and Arteta had 78.

Having won the FA Cup last term, BBC Sport looks at if Arteta has moved Arsenal on - or whether Europa League specialist Emery can strike again.

Arteta:
P79 -- W40 -- D17 -- L22
GF 127 -- GA 80 -- GD +47
Win %: 51%

Emery:
P78 -- W43 --D16--L19
GF 152 -- GA100 -- GD +52
Win %: 55%

Villareal 2 - 1 Arsenal

Unai Emery becomes the first former Arsenal manager to beat the Gunners since George Graham’s Tottenham side won 2-1 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League in November 1999.

I miss him tearing up and down his technical area and screaming like a loon. At least he has 'passion'.

He is the only ex arsenal manager to play against Arsenal since George Graham

Proved the haters wrong today, sure he’s not elite like Pep or Klopp but he was never the real problem here

Good luck to him and his team in the final

Also Emery > Arteta by far

I think we'll all be supporting Villarreal in the final.

Justice for Unai

Despicable the way he was treated on his way out. Guy has been nothing but grateful and gracious for the privilege of managing Arsenal.

Got a big f**k you from Raul, so he gave Saka, Willock and Martinelli a chance. Now 2 of them are our most important players.

5 europa league finals in the last 8 years and possibly a fourth trophy, underrated manager we should have backed him and gave him the players he wanted

The lad can’t speak, no wonder the players had no clue what they were doing. He’s decent but for a mid table Spanish club.
