Emery is not a big club manager. Neither his personality nor his tactics.

History wise they’re a big club sure but atm they’re championship level, Emery is a decent manager to start with who will build a foundation for the next manager to win with.

Sure you could go out and get someone like Mourinho 2004 level but it wouldn’t work the same as Jose inherited a squad which was finishing top four and challenging for the league.

If Chelsea were Newcastle’s level back then Mourinho would have been sacked after 2 seasons for not winning the league and getting CL, so yeah Newcastle could lure someone like Conte but he won’t be successful unless they’re willing to give him at least 3-5 years, better to start with an Emery level manager then go for the elites once you’re comfortably finishing 6th or higher

Emery is a much better fit for Toons than any of the other names being thrown around.

Tons of experience across Europe including the PL + Europa league boss of all bosses

His lack of ego means he can work with a DoF at a midtable team without throwing his toys out of the pram if he doesn't get his wishlist. The likes of Conte and Mourinho aren't going to put up with that.

Credit to Unai. Could easily triple his salary but chooses his favourite club and ethics above blood and oil money.

I think its two fold.

One, he's Spanish and in a Spanish club he loves, they have bought into his ways and that is priceless in modern football, that's not an easy thing to get done.

Second, he know's Newcastle will throw him to the wolves the first moment they get, he's seen it at PSG, he's seen it at AFC.

Fair play to Emery for knowing his level and his happiness, that's a priceless lesson.

Conte may have to learn that, we know Nuno certainly has, worshipped at Wolves, thrown out like trash at Spurs.

Emery has looked at their position and said yeah f**k that.

If they go down they'd probably sack him. So six months back in England and he'd be looking for another club.

I can't see any manager currently in work taking that job.

Respect to Unai for not buying into the Newcastle debacle.
The whole club is absolutely toxic.

Getting rid of this bang average manager was the best decision we ever made.

In fact, we should have made Arteta the manager post Wenger. It would have sped up the development process considerably and we'd probably be challenging for the title now as we'd be 2-3 years ahead of where we are now.
