Usmanov bids to become Anderlecht owner

Postby Zenith » Sat Nov 18, 2017 8:45 am

Several newspapers in Belgium report Usmanov is planning to launch a €100m bid to become the new owner of Anderlecht.

Allegedly he does face competition from business partners Vandenhaute-Gheysen who have been more concrete with their interest. Though Het Laatste Nieuws is the newspaper that broke the story, a Gazet Van Antwerpen journalist mentions in his article Usmanov could potentially decide to part ways with Arsenal.

Expect the international press to pick this up later today or tomorrow

Why would you want to buy a Belgium club if your money stash is nearly unlimited?

No disrespect to Belgium in general here intended plus Anderlecht is a well known club which also won some European titles in the 1970s and 1980s but as a foreigner why would you want to win the Jupiler Pro League?!

#GoonersWorldExcuses
- Their goalkeerper had the game of his life
- We should have had 10+ penalties .. shit ref
- If long term injured player xyz would have been available we would have won easily

As an Anderlecht fan I can inform that Belgian media are stating that Anderlecht would become some sort of satellite club, exchange of talent, etc...

However, I read here that Usmanov has no influence regarding operations and board of directors at Arsenal whatsoever. Therefore I wonder whether that cooperation makes sense to you or not?
