It's ruthless Tim. Brought in by the Kroenkes to take out the trash.

Club legend already

The tricky bit is Kia now.

Raul hired Kia's agency to "facilitate" the sale of Iwobi. That's alarming.

Even if Edu is tight with Kia, I'm sure he's not stupid enough to work with him solely after this restructuring.

Arteta's new role is a positive sign as he's a pure football man and isn't associated with Kia.

I'm also liking Josh's hands-on approach now. It's simple. The Kroenkes weren't concerned about Arsenal until Wenger was here because we were self-sustainable, so they never had to bother. Since Wenger's gone, we've spent nearly £300m and are worse off. Of course, they are concerned now that we are overspending but aren't anywhere near the UCL.

Good signs.

The Kronekes are only interested now because money is tight and this once profitable business model is no longer profitable, they don’t care what happens on the pitch.

It’s clear they didn’t even bother with Arsenal or they might have spotted this a long time before, now they have they’ve got rid of staff, cut the transfer budget so that the only way we can spend is to sell, they also can’t rely on ticket sales anymore (this club has been so complacent it focussed a lot of the gate receipts and neglected the much more lucrative commercial side), I guess they’re will be no season ticket jackpot this year!

This cash cow is quite as reliable as it once was, hopefully they sell it to someone more interested.

Edu is pretty close with Kia as well. Also, the statement from the club mentioned a 'data driven and contacts' approach to recruitment. It's still a bit muddled but at least they've gotten rid of Raul.

Was just reading Arseblog and Andrew digs a little deeper into some of Raul's dodgy deals and sounds like he was putting money in his mates pockets. It's been suggested that we overpaid for Leno. Arturo Canales, was involved with the deal and is a friend and former colleague of Raul's. The Canales guy was also appointed as Emery's agent, got on the the Arsenal managerial shortlist somehow and got the job from out of nowhere. When Emery should have been sacked, Raul was looking to give Emery a new contract and took far too long to sack him.

On the Pepe deal, a former colleague of Raul's, Marc Ingla, was involved in the deal and he was suspended last year for falsifying paperwork at Lille. With reports of us overpaying for Pepe, maybe some brown paper bags were passed around.

They must have found something dodgy for him to be fired on the spot like this. But either way, Raul's record has been pretty poor. Emery was one strike and then when you look at the recruitment under him....besides Leno, all players we signed in our first transfer window since Wenger left are on there way out or have left already.

But the thing is the club won't be profitable unless there is success on the pitch so as long as we're out of the top 4 their greed is an asset.

It depends if you call top 4 success, the Kroenkes were happy enough when we were in the top 4 even if we never actually competed for the title or CL (we just made up the numbers in that).

What we should have is owners that want to see us win all the big competitions (that’s brings its own rewards off the pitch), what we have is owners who aren’t too concerned with that part of we’re making money off it by getting top 4, there lies the problem. The City, Liverpool and Man City owners care about that part, as do the owners of most big club like Juve, Real, Barca, Bayern etc.

There’s always some unreasonable people, they’ve got to the CL final, won the CL (and challenged for the title) and won the title by miles in 3 seasons, that’s amazing by anyone’s standards, especially given they hadn’t won the title in 30 years.

So in simple terms the structure of the club is now

Josh Kroenke at the top

Vinai overseeing both the football & financial side

Edu the DoF who is responsible for squad assembly, scouting set up etc alongside Huss Fahmy who deals with contractual agreements

Arteta, who now has a direct line to Josh Kroenke and also works with Edu for squad assembly & transfer target identification (more of a manager than the previous title of head coach)

Is what I understand?
