Casillas was the best I've seen. Single handedly won the World Cup in 2010 and played behind shit defences for Real but saved them continuously.

Buffon though is as close as one can get to best keeper ever though without actually being it.

Top 2 by a considerable distant.

Maldini best defender of all time.

Buffon probably the best I've seen for sure

Would still get into every side bar Bayern & United

Loved San Iker but he deteriorated so quickly

Neuer is like one of them goalkeeping robots, I'm not sure he's humab

Buffon, Casillas, Schmeichel, Kahn and Neuer top 5 of the modern day.

Casillas is overrated imo. He was good but shouldn't be in the same discussion with Neuer, Buffon and Kahn. De Gea, Courtois and Oblak should be able to pass him when they're done.

Buffon > Neuer atm in terms of all time great but I think Manuel can overtake him. They're very similar in that they both played majorly for the biggest club in their league, stayed there for a long time and have also done well for their international teams and both won a WC.

Buffon's longevity wins right now but obviously Neuer has the chance to do the same in the future. Would be surprised if he stays at Bayern the whole time though.

Casillas underrated by some, Madrid's defence/defensive tactics have always been wank and he still became one of the best in the world. Spain also play very attacking football and that 2010 final is a prime example of what he had to face, pure 1 on 1's on the counter in crunch moments. Top class keeper but yes he dropped of big style under Jose.

Casillas is awesome when you think he doesn't have a big stature for a keeper and dealt with the pressure of playing at a club like Madrid from such a young age.

Still for arsenal I would prefer prime buffon or neuer over him. If Cech didn't have that injury he could have been up there.

Cech easily makes the top 5 of the modern day sure he's not the same now but put him in front of a Juventus defence and he'd look just as good as Buffon, how many players can go through an injury like that and come back just as good?

And let's not forget his champions league heroics that won chealsea that cup.

Agree. Far too dodgy throughout his career commanding the box until it got to a point where it got comical and sad at the same time.

Having said that, Casillas is undoubtedly one of the best shot stoppers of all time, along with this Lev Yashin award winner;

Aye I feel he has a bit of a concentration issue now, he seems to relish the big games and come up like a brick f***ing wall in those but during the lesser games he is prone to silly mistakes or getting beaten by a long shot you'd expect him to save.

Probably now. His longevity and consistency at the elite level gives him the edge over his rivals.

Still don't understand how some people were claiming Neuer is the best ever - and people were saying this three years ago ffs.
