Imagine a world class striker, one of the best ever to play the game trying to improve his striker and signing a player he wanted for his team.

Its his man management though, telling a player how to call for a ball?

This is the issue, WC strikers like Henry are demanding to a point where your simply pushing peoples buttons rather than nurturing them.

Also making friends with the board is vital, Wenger and Alex Fergusson were masters at that to the point where they had so much power over the board they practically rivalled the owner in terms of influence over the club.

Henry looks like he's just come in, upset or offended everyone and then the club from board room to changing room have turned against him and isolated him.

It seems that he wanted to take the Pep route straight away with all the reshuffling and tinkering.

So hes being criticized for wanting to implement his own vision on his team? Ok.

Also, that telling falcao how to call for the ball.. how many times have you seen players give up possession or not receive a ball because of a lack of communication? It's one of the most basic things to learn in a team sport, yet there are some players that will sit on a pitch and not shout their teammate if they are free or in danger or can turn with ball etc.

Him putting pressure on the leaders of the team isn't a problem either, I mean ffs look where they were before they signed Henry and even now, it's pretty obvious the experienced players were doing something wrong.

This is all a fuss about nothing.

Next time, they should hire a coach that let's:

-the senior players do what they want to do
-Allows all and sundry to tell him what tactics and line up to use via Twitter poll
-not try to train anyone in case they get offended

They simply didn't want to be told anything by a guy with no managerial experience imo.

Sounds like he maybe was dealing with some big egos too. His ego probably didn't help either, but maybe just a bad combination of a few things that made it not work.

Aleksandr Golovin reveals how much Thierry Henry struggled as Monaco manager

Thierry Henry's first full-time managerial role was one to forget.

The Frenchman took over at AS Monaco in October and was hoping to drag his old club from the foot of the League 1 table and help turn their season around.

But that didn't happen.

The Monte Carlo club won just four times from 20 games under Henry and by January he was shown the door.

Despite being one of the greatest players to grace the Premier League, it seems that making the step up to management was one Henry struggled with.

"Maybe Henry didn’t kill the role of the player inside of him," Golovin began in an interview that's since been translated.

"When things weren’t working out during practice he would get nervous and yell a lot. Maybe it was unnecessary. He would try to go out onto the field and show us how to practice and yell.

"Maybe a different manager would say 'let’s go, get it together', but he would get nervous right away and run onto the field and start playing and showing us things.

"He would scream 'try to get the ball away from me'. Players were mostly calm, but maybe they were in a bit of a shock."

Golovin believes Henry would get so frustrated because he never fully transitioned from the role of player to manager and that he was expecting a bit more from the personnel at Monaco.

"You could tell he didn’t fully transition into the role of manager. He was a very strong player and the only players near his level at Monaco are maybe [Radamel] Falcao and [Cesc] Fabregas."

The Monaco star has certainly offered an interesting insight into life under Henry and it sounds like the Frenchman has a lot to work on before he returns to management.

I think Wenger knew this. In a recent interview, Wenger insinuated how players were relieved after Henry left for Barca because everyone was intimidated by him. We could also tell that he had no patience with them, was also smug-face and annoyed when any of them made a mistake, and always expected a pass.

Henry himself has admitted that he was a nightmare to manage as he was always at Arsene's office complaining about one thing or the other.

Golovin's analysis that Henry hasn't "killed the player in him," sounds true. Henry doesn't seem to have the temperament of a manager. He's a genius for whom things came naturally. At Monaco, he seems to have failed to understand that those players aren't as talented as he was or the players he played with. Just look at the list: Bergkamp, Messi, Pires, Vieira, Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta, etc. I guess he just couldn't understand the players' behavior and mentality. As a manager, the last thing you'd want to do is intimidate your subordinates or players, in this case.

I feel Henry dropped the ball by refusing to give his entire time to Arsenal's youth team and joining the pundits at Sky instead. Like Zidane, Henry would have gained valuable coaching experience, would have worked directly with Arsene, and finally, could have been assistant to Unai—before taking over the job. Instead, he rushed into things and was busy bigging up Pep and not giving Arsene enough credit.

I hope he joins another club as a manager. I don't think this is the end of the road but it also depends on how he takes the Monaco experience. The best thing for him would be to join a mid-table side where relegation isn't the issue, nor is challenging for top-6 places.

Nothing is forcing him to actually work as a coach. Michael Jordan tried to be player-owner of the Washington Wizards, but was fired because he made decisions detrimental to the team, like putting himself in the starting lineup for nearly every game.

As I’ve said time and time again

He’s far too egotistical and arrogant to ever be a good manager, man management even as captain was appalling

Red Bulls set to appoint Henry

New York Red Bulls are set to appoint Thierry Henry as their manager next week, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News revealed earlier this week that the MLS side were in talks with the former Arsenal striker over their managerial position.

Henry spent four years with New York Red Bulls between 2010 and 2014, scoring 52 goals in 135 appearances.

It is understood the football and commercial side of Red Bull have agreed on the decision to bring Henry back to New York, with their head of global soccer Oliver Mintzlaff to fly to London to finalise a deal
