Max Allegri on Ronaldo (in the CL Final):

"He looks like he's napping all game, and then he pops up and destroys you."

Gab Marcotti called this version of Ronaldo, "Cristiano 2.0."

It's not uncommon knowledge that 2.0 isn't the same Ronaldo he was before—the dribbler, the runner, the aggressive attacker. He's much more a center-forward these days, with probably the best right foot in the game. He waits for the right opportunity and from being a complex attacker, Ron today has transformed into a world-class poacher.

What do you think of this version of Ronaldo?

The most efficient player in history.

Cristiano is a very very intelligent footballer. Do I think he's anywhere near as good as his last season at United/First at Madrid? No. But his transformation comes from knowing his limits and elite footballing intelligence. I don't think he's the greatest ever and personally feel he is still way off Messi in terms of natural ability, but he is certainly the best finisher in history imo.

There is nothing unlikable about Cristiano. He is a pure footballing machine who I'm glad we've been able to witness

Yeah. Bit of a weird one there from Sims.

Hes changed his game around to become the best ever. Can still do everything he did before but now has that striker instinct to go along with it. The complete player.

More effective probably but he was an entertainer and still absolutely destroying everything in his past in his second to last United season. 31 in 34 in the League, 8 in 11 in Europe that year, with the ability to consistently take on players and use his flair too

He takes on players less often than at his United days and his first days at Madrid. He also creates less chance. He waits very effectively in the box to finish the chances.
He is the most intelligent hard working footballer, I've ever witnessed. Huge credit to Zidane too for inventing this Ronaldo roley and helping Ronaldo adapting his game. He is neither a striker nor a winger. He and Benzema interchange positions in a very impressive way. Benzema deserves some credit too for his footballing intelligence and sense of positioning. Very underrated player.

Ronaldo at Madrid >>> Ronaldo at United

He only had one outstanding season in the PL. The season after he scored 31 in the league and 42 overall, his numbers went down to 18 in the league and 26 overall.

Still good numbers, but nowhere near the same level.

He has a monster year at Madrid each season. Wasn't this the first time he failed to score 50 goals in like six years?

There is no comparison.

Ronaldo right now has improved massively to become the best tap-in merchant in world football

Probably on par with Giroud now, massive improvement.

One season though. And this has been his worst season at Madrid for years.

Ronaldo's peak season at Madrid is better than his peak season at United

His overall body of work at Madrid is levels above his United resume'

Either way, he's been better at Madrid.

Hes also missed a lot of games this season cos of injury and being rested.

Zidane has used him well.

Inshallah he is fully fit now
