2016/17 UEFA Europa League

Postby Royal Gooner » Fri May 20, 2016 8:36 am

With Sevilla keeping the big gold cup, thought I'd start the thread for next year's second tier European competition.

Aberdeen, Hearts (who seem to be seeded just for being Scottish), Linfield, Glenavon, Cliftonville, Bala, Llandudno, Connah's Quay Nomads and Europa FC are the British interest in the Europa League first round.

The Irish derby of Linfield vs Cork will be interesting.

Would like to see either Aberdeen or Hearts make the group stage this year, as unlikely as that eventuality seems.

Well Hearts are seeded (for what reason, I don't know) and they have 2 easy draws in the first two rounds. Aberdeen likewise if they get past a tough first round draw. Though if Rangers had won the cup, then there defiantly would have been a Scottish team in the group stage. Hibs are probably not going to get past Brondby.

Little update:

Hearts, Out: losing 2-1 at home to some Maltese team!
Hibs, Out: on penalties
Gap Connah's Quay, Out
Cliftonville, Out
College Europa, Out

All that's left is to say:

Didn't stop RG from jerking off to the misfortune of any British team that isn't English.

Check the video posted above and you'll realise the statement here is incorrect in every manner.

Apparently West Ham are now calling their new home ground "London Stadium".

What a way to tarnish the Olympic legacy and insult those who built and leased your new ground to you. Then again, hardly surprising given they put London on their new club crest so in the move they must have forgotten which city they are representing.

Incidentally, no more Scots in the Europa League.

Aberdeen beaten by the European Hammer of the Scots Maribor 1-0
