Considering Vieira is probably the greatest midfielder in PL history I feel comfortable in saying Diaby would have never reached those heights. Patrick is one of the best CM's of all time.

Take any great player in the history of football and in between the ages of 20-28 remove 300 matches along with all that entails and say they would have reached the same levels they did.

Naturally.

But I don't believe Diaby would have become the best midfielder in PL history had he remained fit.

I genuinely believe that had he had a good run of games and had he not picked up the injuries he had he would have turned out to be a great player. Viera level was a bit of a stretch but imo the quality was there for him to go on and do great things

He wouldn't have been Viera or Yaya at his best...but he had a rare skillset for his size and could have been world class...just by listening to Wenger and others who watched him train, they all agree he was a special talent...he would have been pogba before pogba

you'd have to be a total r***rd to not see Diaby could've been one of the best CM's, given how much he's been injured and laughed about, that's a damn set of highlights in the vid posted. So much more technique and skill than Vieira, not the same aggression but he'd be our best CM right now for sure.

He had a good run for a couple of seasons and he didn't really reach a level that even couqelins reached now. He has loads of talent but its easy to romanticse. I remember many big games us losing and people criticising his performances and saying things like he had no brain.

Abou Diaby would've been what people think Paul Pogba is/will be. I'll leave it at that.

One of the most talented midfielders to ever play for us. Travesty he never got to realize his full potential.

If Diaby wouldn't have gotten injured, he'd have bossed the PL and would probably be playing for City/United right now. :P

Yeah so? They also speak french and sound the same... practically triplets.
Q. Has Ozil produced against big teams for AFC?

A. Did you see that flick vs Hull!???!?

no he has to try and make a living now instead of being gifted one (big assumption but probably true)
