Been a long time coming.

Hopefully he just retires and releases himself from this footballing purgatory, altogether.

All the mockery is a bit harsh imo, he didn't ask to be injured and didn't offer himself new contracts.

Wasted talent, really saddening to me how it's all panned out, wish him all the best.
Q. Has Ozil produced against big teams for AFC?

A. Did you see that flick vs Hull!???!?

I think someone mentioned it in this thread or the other Diaby thread but he hasn't actually been released yet. I've just been reading around on Twitter/forums and apparently he's in talks over a pay as you play deal.

This is from a L'equipe reporter:

"#Diaby hasn't been released by #Arsenal. Out of contract. But verbal agreement with the club. Talks ongoing for a new contract."

No Zedie, I didn't hashtag Diaby ;)

He will be here next season.

He's 29, entire career wasted because of some amateur who should have never played in the PL. :(

I wish him good luck if he's going. Could have been as good as Viera had he had better luck with injuries but such is our luck with injuries.

Just once, I'd like for us to go a full season without one of our players picking up a long term injury

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks he was shit when he did play for the majority of his playing time?

Not shit but nothing special for the most part. A few standout games but he hardly showed world class potential.

He has since obtained mythical status, him being the next Vieira or potentially better than Yaya Toure - ridiculous notions.

The injuries have skewed people's opinions and they greatly over exaggerate the ability he had.

Not the only but probably in the minority, most say he had amazing potential, he could miss 15 games, come back, boss a game then miss 10 games.

He could have reached Vieira levels but offering something different. He's missed 300 matches or something insane like that. Very hard to judge a player who missed so much.

He missed so much football so it's equally ridiculous to say what he couldn't have achieved or what levels he could have reached.

The only reason people compare Diaby to Vieira/Toure is because all three are tall and black.

Considering Vieira is probably the greatest midfielder in PL history I feel comfortable in saying Diaby would have never reached those heights. Patrick is one of the best CM's of all time.
