Francis Coquelin

Postby Amsterdam_Gooner » Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:59 pm

Francis Coquelin has impressed me no end everytime I've seen him turn out for AFC at various levels. He really does look a star in the making. Tough tackling, good energy and a good range of passing. Will be a certain starter in a few years if his progress continues. I would be all for him being loaned out this coming season to maybe a championship side to gain some valuble 1st team experience. J.W aside I rate him as our brightest prospect.
Any one else agree/disagree?

I agree. Kid looks good. Very excited about his work rate and energy as you say. Wish he was ready now cause he is what we need.

Completely agree, it's a pity he's not a year or so older and more experianced he could've just slotted into the team as our DM! That's why i'm not that desperate for us to sign a DM now!

I dont think it will be long until we start seeing him in the first team squad on a regular basis.
He's 18 now, the same age that Denilson was when he made his PL debut. Hopefully we're see alot of him in the Emirates Cup.

I am expecting some activity on this thread tomorow, after hopefully a very good performance against WBA. I think he will play the holding midfield role tomorrow which will be a key position against a free scoring West Brom side. Looking forward to it.

I agree, such a mobile player I think he just about covered every inch of the pitch last night, excellent in the air, sweet passer of the ball and certainly aint afraid to get stuck in where it hurts either, one incident that really impressed me last night was the one rare occassion that he gave the ball away he sprinted back and got in an excellent last ditch tackle.

Something else I noticed last night and on previous occassions that i've seen him play is that he hardly ever loses a 50/50 challenge, alsways seems to come away with the ball.

I would rotate Frimpong and Coquelin with Song, that way you've got two more DM's that are match ready if needed.

Cock-well-in looked decent against League 2 but lets just wait and see how he looks against a Prem team before ranting and raving about him.

by comparison, Frimpong looked average against a League 2 side

If we had got M'vila then he would of been sold, glad hes taking his chances.

He bust his gut to get back and cut out a ball otherwise their striker would of had a clear shot, proper DM footballing brain no matter who its against.

5.20 on the highlight video.
