No beef with Zidane, then again im not going to be saying he commands the most universal respect.
But he does; he's idolized by football fans the world over - irrespective of their age or the team they support.
Also think it's unfair to compare Totti to Suarez - a diver, someone who deliberately tries to inure players then feigns his own injury, an accused racist, and serial biter.
One meek kick really isn't the "black mark" you make it out to be; it's quite minor in the grand scheme of things and certainly not something that would skew the way I view Totti as a person. I'm sure you could find unsavory incidents from virtually every player who's ever played the game if you had access to the footage and delved deep enough.
Of course he is idolised, he is a footballing God, nobody cant doubt what zidane did for the game and how good he was on the pitch.Doesnt get to much better.
Thinking its minor is fair enough, but it was a huge thing when it happened, alleged racism, calls for longer bans, it wasnt a minor incident as it happened, nor was it went he got the 3 game ban for spitting in Poulsons face.Don't have issues with dirty players when they get in fights, kick out, stepping on people etc just the type of respect extends to only their footballing talent.Totti is very much in that mould of the rebel proffesional has been his entire career, part of the game though.Deffinetly not on the same level of proffesionalism as most of his colleagues.
*lol'd heavy at the diver bit though, wasnt sure if sarcasm, that write up actually made me realise how similar the players were, never thought of it before.
